Common questions
Your P-Shot® questions, answered.
Answers to common questions about the P-Shot® procedure, what to expect, and the protocol developed by Dr. Charles Runels.
Does the P-Shot® work for everyone?
Individual responses to the P-Shot® can vary. Dr. Los evaluates each patient individually, taking into account sexual health concerns, overall health, goals, and expectations to determine whether the procedure is appropriate.
Why might I need a broader evaluation?
Sexual health is connected to overall health. During your consultation, Dr. Los may consider factors such as cardiovascular and metabolic health, medications, hormones, sleep, stress, and other concerns to help understand your individual needs and create a more complete approach to your care.
What happens during the procedure?
Numbing lidocaine cream is applied for comfort. A small amount of blood is drawn from the arm and placed in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich portion. The platelets are then prepared according to the P-Shot® protocol to release growth factors. The resulting preparation is transferred to a syringe and administered to specific penile tissues according to the protocol.
Does the P-Shot® hurt?
A strong lidocaine numbing cream is applied before the injections to reduce discomfort. Dr. Charles Runels, inventor of the P-Shot®, describes the discomfort as comparable to, or potentially less than, a typical injection. Individual experiences may vary.
Where is the P-Shot® injected?
According to Dr. Charles Runels, inventor of the P-Shot®, the injections are placed directly into the corpus cavernosum and into the head of the penis using a small needle, in a manner similar to injections used for erectile dysfunction.
When might I notice results?
According to Dr. Charles Runels, inventor of the P-Shot®, some changes may be noticed immediately following the procedure. He explains that some of the initial volume comes from the platelet-rich preparation itself and may decrease over the first few days. He describes tissue growth and response as continuing over the following weeks, including for at least 12 weeks. Individual responses vary.
How much growth can I expect?
Dr. Charles Runels, inventor of the P-Shot®, has reported a 10–20% increase in length and girth, including early observations of approximately an inch or slightly more in length and girth in his first two patients during the first month. He observed girth changes first, followed by length with continued growth. These are Dr. Runels’ reported observations and should not be interpreted as a guaranteed individual result.
What about scar tissue?
According to Dr. Charles Runels, inventor of the P-Shot®, scar tissue has been observed in about 10% of men who use penile injections three to five times a week over many years for erectile dysfunction. He notes that the P-Shot® involves far fewer injections and describes the likelihood of scar tissue from the procedure as very low. Individual risks should be discussed with Dr. Los during consultation.
How do I know if I am a candidate?
Dr. Los will determine whether the P-Shot® is appropriate for you through an individual consultation that considers your health history, sexual health concerns, goals, and expectations. Your consultation is also an opportunity to ask questions and understand what the procedure may offer in your individual case.
